Rolling for Reefers

Marijuana legalization advocates turned out today on bicycles advocating the return of the 'personal dose' law, which permitted the possession of 5 ounces of marijuana or 1 ounce of cocaine for personal use. The law was reversed during the presidency of conservative Alvaro Uribe, who argued, among other things, that it permitted drug dealers to avoid arrest by keeping only the permitted amount on their person, while hiding more drugs nearby.

But some recent court decisions seem to have reaffirmed the 'personal dose' right, altho what a cop would do on the street is another matter.

Pres. Santos has also talked about the need to consider alternatives to drug prohibition, as well as legalizing medical marijuana.
